about

A space-rock opera / asteroid-disco / 8-bit chip prog concept-album (with a cheesy story).

I grew up with an Atari ST, and all my cool friends had the c64 with a gazillion games. The supply of games to the norwegian Atari ST market was... limited. But I LOVED the sounds of these computers. They really ignited my imagination, and I was so convinced I was listening to an entire orchestra coming from these, by today's standard, very primitive computers. I was also convinced that the tracks I was hearing were full of effects like reverb and echoes and more.

But of course they weren't.

For a long time I have wanted to create a chip-tune album, with authentic chip sounds as the source, and then have them filtered through very young Jørn's imagination, recreating what I thought I heard back in the 80s.

And because I love them myself, I wanted to do this as an album with a storyline continuing through all the songs. And it felt very right to have a story that could have been from a game back then.
